Around the Pond: 5000 km on the North Sea Cycle Route

The weather is still mixed today. It starts out cloudy, later I get some sun with intermittent showers.

Directly after leaving Stonehaven I have to climb my first hill. That gives me a nice last look on the town.

Just south of Stonehaven lies Dunnotar Castle. I leave my bike on the small parking lot and follow the footpath down to the beach and up again to the castle on the cliff. I spend an hour in the castle ruins before returning to my bike.

The route follows small roads along the coast. In Montrose I make a stop to buy provisions. I don't feel fit today, and I am glad as I reach the camping site in Carnoustie after 80 kilometers. I am received very friendly, and the facilities are amoung the cleanest I have found on the whole trip, second only to the small site at Hauge in Norway.

The batteries of my electronic equipment are running low. I find a electric outlet in a hidden place in the common room, and use it to charge everything.
